One operator. One line of accountability.
Base Camp Aviation is an owner-operated helicopter company at McCall, Idaho, flying utility, resource, fire and backcountry operations across the American West since 2017, with maintenance in our own hangar.

The team that flies your mission also signs off the aircraft.
Most helicopter companies split the two jobs. The operator flies; a shop maintains. It is a perfectly normal arrangement and it puts a gap in the middle of the most important conversation in aviation: whether this aircraft should fly today.
Base Camp Aviation was built to close that gap. Our pilots and our A&P technicians are one team in one hangar. The defect gets reported by the person who felt it, to the person who will fix it, and the aircraft is released by a team that is about to go and fly it.
For clients, that shows up in ordinary ways. You get a straight answer on the first call, from the crew that will be in the aircraft. The ship is serviceable in August. And when the answer is no, it is a real no rather than a negotiation.
- Founded 2017, owner-operated
- Commercial pilot and A&P mechanic
- FAA Part 133, 135 and 137
- Registered federal vendor
From one aircraft
to an operating base.
Founded2017
Base Camp Aviation started with one aircraft, one operator and a straightforward proposition: the people who sign off the aircraft should be the ones flying your mission. Everything since has been built around keeping that true as the company grew.
Maintenance brought in-houseEarly
The decision that shaped the company. Owning the maintenance means owning the availability, the standards and the go / no-go call, and it means no commercial pressure from a shop that needs the aircraft released.
Utility and resource workCore
Powerline and pipeline patrol, aerial construction, survey, wildlife and seeding work built the operating base: repeat clients who come back every season, in terrain that punishes operators who cut corners.
Fire and agency workSeasonal
Registration as a federal vendor and the certificate stack that agency work requires. Fire season now shapes the calendar from June through October, and standby is planned for rather than reacted to.
Recreation and trainingGrowing
Scenic flights, backcountry charter, heli-skiing with local guides, and flight training in the terrain the skills are actually for. The same crew, the same aircraft, the same standards.
NowToday
An owner-run fleet, an in-house A&P shop, and a client list that runs from federal agencies to ranchers to visitors who want to see the Frank Church from the air.
Small enough that the person you spoke to is the person who turns up.

Jeff Adams
Commercial rotor and fixed-wing pilot and an A&P mechanic. Leads the team that flies the missions and signs off the aircraft, which is the whole idea behind the company, and the reason clients get a straight answer on the first phone call.

The crew
A small team of pilots, technicians and ground staff who work this terrain year-round. Small enough that the person you spoke to is the person who turns up, which is not true of most operators.

The shop
The in-house maintenance and avionics team, looking after our fleet, and after aircraft belonging to outside owners and operators who want a shop that flies what it fixes.
Four things that decide
everything else.

Accountability
One operator, one line of responsibility. The team that flies your mission signs off the aircraft and answers the phone when you call back.
- No handovers between operator and shop
- Owner-operated from the first call
- Straight answers, including the unwelcome ones

Local
Based at McCall, flying central Idaho all year. Local knowledge is not a marketing line here; it is knowing which drainage gets bad air after two in the afternoon.
- McCall Municipal Airport
- Central Idaho terrain year-round
- Relationships with local agencies and guides

Available
On call 365 days a year. In fire season and after storms, availability is not a feature of the service; it is the entire service.
- 365 days a year
- Emergency and storm call-out
- Seasonal standby arrangements

Maintained
In-house A&P maintenance. Aircraft that are looked after by the people who depend on them tend to be serviceable in August.
- Own hangar and shop at McCall
- Outside owners welcome
- Availability protected through the season

The facts,
in one place.
For procurement teams, agencies and anyone filling in a vendor form. Anything else you need for a submission, ask and we will send it.
The company,
as it actually looks.

The ones people ask
about the company.
Small, deliberately, and we will not pretend otherwise. That is an advantage for project work, awkward sites, seasonal patrol and anything needing judgement rather than scale, and a disadvantage for a multi-aircraft, multi-year programme. We will tell you which of those you have.
McCall is the base, not the boundary. Most work is in Idaho and the surrounding states, and we mobilise across the American West. Ferry, per-diem and mobilisation are quoted as separate lines so the cost of distance is visible.
Yes. On larger jobs we work alongside other operators, and we maintain aircraft for owners and operators who fly their own. This industry is smaller than it looks and reputation travels.
Periodically: pilots, A&P technicians and ground staff. Ask through the contact page, and speculative applications from people who genuinely want to live in central Idaho are always read.
The recreation side of the business (scenic flights, heli-skiing and backcountry experiences) runs alongside the operations work, using the same aircraft, the same maintenance shop and the same crew. Tours and training are on this site.

Come and see the hangar. Or just call and ask.
